about

Dorset Construction is a small, yet skilled team of professionals, dedicated to delivering exceptional results. We like to create a positive environment, which benefits our builders and clients. Led by Adam Pierson, our team of builders is big enough to handle any residential job, yet small enough to be involved in every detail of your project.

Adam started Dorset Construction in Wellington in 2015. The company has established a reputation for its technical expertise across architectural work, new builds and renovations.

In 2021 Adam opened the Mount Maunganui branch of Dorset Construction, which services the Greater Tauranga area, when he relocated to the Bay of Plenty region to enjoy a lifestyle change with his family. He has an experienced team of talented builders that supports Mount Maunganui.

Why work with us?

Collectively, we have decades of building and project management experience in New Zealand and overseas. We are Licensed Building Practitioners, and our team is highly skilled at detailed architectural work.

We also value trust, honesty and communication, and we work hard to build good relationships with our clients. Rest assured we will be transparent and keep you fully informed throughout the process.

Bespoke building solutions

Our team are adept at working on complex sites, and we welcome new challenges. We are also one of the few building companies in New Zealand proficient at in-situ concrete - a difficult and highly-skilled method where the concrete is poured into its final position rather than precast.

The in-situ concrete method is sought after by clients and architects because it provides flexible design options, promotes the structural qualities of the concrete and achieves an authentic finish.

National industry recognition

We’re proud to have had our work recognised as among the best in the industry. Our 10x10 house, designed by Patchwork Architecture, was named winner of the Housing category in the prestigious New Zealand Architecture Awards in 2020. The judges described the house as an “inspirational, functional and hugely enjoyable family home”.

Two other projects, also with Patchwork Architecture, have been recognised. Stealth Bomber was a Home Magazine, Home of the Year 2017 finalist, and Pyramid Scheme was a Home of the Year finalist and won Best Small Home in Home of the Year 2017.

We've been working with Dorset Construction since 2015. In that time they've built four beautifully crafted, award-winning homes for us with more on the way.

We've found Dorset to be honest and reliable with an impeccable eye for detail. The projects that we have built with Dorset have been complex - difficult sites, with intricate detailing and often tight budgets. They've worked with us to problem solve, and get the things built every time. Very happy to recommend Adam and the team.
